Reason for coming to BBBS of NYC: Jesse is an only child who could benefit from a positive male role model.

Activities they've enjoyed: Jesse and Lucas meet regularly and have gone out on various outings. Their favorite activities have included the air show, trips to the museum, the aquarium & amusement park at Coney Island, & watching sporting events such as the Yankees, Nets, and Rangers.
They have also participated in agency events such as the Weekend Wilderness, National Youth Service Day (they volunteered and helped plant trees at Union Square Park) & the Gridiron Games. They especially enjoyed participating in last year's 'BBBS of NYC Race for the Kids' event. Lucas and Jesse ran the event. Jesse's mother walked and Lucas's parents also attended.
How the program has helped them: Jesse's mother says that Lucas has made Jesse feel important and is "a blessing." She feels that Lucas is an asset to Jesse's life and that the two are "a beautiful match." She states Lucas has exposed Jesse to a host of activities and events and the two really enjoy one another's company.
She has also said that as a single parent, life can prove to be a challenging one, however, Lucas has been a tremendous support system. Lucas has encouraged Jesse to lead by example when it comes to behavior in school. Lucas reports how proud he is of Jesse's ability to interact so well with other Bigs and Littles at BBBS sponsored activities.
