Emily is a California transplant who noticed a void in the Hoboken food scene. Donuts. Never having made donuts or run a business, she made the scary decision to do just that. In 2018 she began a journey to learn how to bring donuts to the locals. Since that time, Do Good Donuts has built quite a following. Racking up to 15 miles a day on a bike, Emily delivers to donut lovers in the Hoboken/Jersey City area.
We met a while back in the usual place, my cafe (yes that will be a recurring theme to my posts). Let me tell you, the donuts are amazing. She’s constantly innovating new and unique flavor combinations. To say Do Good Donuts is popular would be an understatement. Besides delivering, she hosts many different pop-ups throughout the area and always sells out quickly.
She recently made a major and difficult choice to buy a food truck. As someone who has run a food business, I can tell you that trouble follows almost every decision. In this case, there were mechanical issues with the truck right from the start. Emily tracked down a mechanic that has been giving her the runaround to the tune of over $9,000 and is basically holding the truck hostage.
What Emily needs is a some solid legal advice. How should she handle this situation? Are there any actions she can take to fight this? More importantly, get her truck back. It’s too much to go into here, but below is a video explaining the whole ordeal that started in mid-April and is still trudging along today.
Take a look and please contact Do Good Donuts on Instagram if you think you can help. Emily is one of the good ones. She doesn’t deserve this.
