Soothing sounds and surreal lighting
The back room at Elysian Cafe in Hoboken has a most interesting, new-age-like feel to it’s decor. White sculpted walls with blue neon lights shining upwards contrasted by the orange glow of the glass and metal chandeliers.
Etched panels on the large bay window and one wall of cushioned cloth also added to the surreal state of the photos. And all of it provided a perfect backdrop to the soothing sounds of Las Vandelays.
My friend Kristine played the part of photo-muse pointing and saying, “Ooo take a picture of that.” Inevitably, after shooting one such inspired view, she’d find another. It’s always nice to have a second set of eyes, especially when mine are blurred in a setting with so many choices.
