Every year at this time comes the warmth of Spring. The promise of good times to come. Even though this Winter was not quite the oppressive bastard as those in the past. But I digress. For me, each Spring also brings the joy of hosting The Global Fund for Women Benefit at Maxwell’s.
This will be the 8th time around for the benefit show. It’s the 7th one for me as host and I couldn’t be happier to be sharing the stage once again with so many talented local musicians. Please come out and help us raise money and awareness for the Global Fund for Women. It’s gonna be a great night.
GFW2016: 8th Annual Global Fund for Women Benefit will feature musical performances by these amazing musicians:
Pompeii Pop
Singer/songwriter of clueLess and event co-founder Nelson Pla’s acoustic side project. He’ll bring some of his own tunes and a few unique covers.
Singer/songwriter and prolific Hoboken busker. “A beautiful angelic voice” is the main thing you hear about her. Born in Paris, she moved to New York to follow her dreams.
Through the Chronicles of “To Be Human”, uses sound expression to tell the stories of what it is to have a human experience.
Brothers Nelson and Josep Pla bring together a band of Hoboken legends each year to recreate a classic in a new way. This year will be big. Hint: Their calling it “2112 Abbey Road” ;0)
Glen Rock, New Jersey-based sexy, gritty rock n’ roll band. We are thrilled to have them on the bill. “Much in the same way Billy Joel and Elton John own Madison Square Garden or Bruce Springsteen’s unquestioned Kingdom in the Meadowlands, it looks like NJ hard rockers Deaf Rhino are gunning for a similar mantle with the newly re-varnished Maxwell’s.” – Speak Into My Good Eye
As in years past, we’ll also be asking local businesses to donate prizes for our annual raffle. You don’t want to miss this show. So help spread the word, come out to Maxwell’s on April 9, 2016 and let’s all rock out for a really great cause.

Global Fund for Women is an international network committed to a world of equality and social justice. Founded in 1987, this nonprofit organization defends women’s rights by making grants to support women’s groups. They promote the economic security, health, safety, education and leadership of women and girls worldwide.
