I’m Hosting the Lazarus’ Ego Book Release Party

Come to Bowery Electric on 11/12/13 and see me babbling on stage, introducing bands, talking about a book, etc.

Lazarus' Ego

My good friend Nelson Pla is a musician, an artist and now a published author. His book Lazarus’ Ego is a collection of haiku, paintings and musings and it is set to be released officially on the once in a millennium date of 11/12/13. The party will be at The Bowery Electric (327 Bowery NYC) and I get to step into the roll of master of ceremonies.

This gonna be a very fun night with some amazing music. A limited number of books will be available for sale at the show for $15.00. And Nelson will sign them, too!

About the Book & Author (by Laura Drager)
Traditionally, haiku was steeped in themes of nature. Fortunately, modern haiku has expanded to include a vast array of topics. In Lazarus’ Ego, it is amazing how three short, simple lines can be so visceral, contain such poignancy and insight, while at other times be infused with humor. It’s clear that Nelson Pla carefully constructed his line breaks, which change the entire meaning, and are very thought-provoking.

In this collection of haikus, watercolor paintings and essays, the reader is treated to a glimpse through the aperture of the innately creative mind of Pla. An astute observer of life and the human condition, Pla touches on philosophy, religion and the world of entertainment.

Nelson Pla is a burgeoning talent, and truly a triple threat: musician, artist and author. He records and produces as well; from his studio in New Jersey, Sessions at Pla (S@P), in the suburbs outside from New York City.

He has other manuscripts in the works, namely the particularly anticipated Lyrics, Poems and Anecdotes: The Notes I Write to Remember My Life which expands on some of the themes explored in this collection.
