One night over several glasses of Pinot Noir and Jack & Coke, my friend Liz and I decided we needed to start a new singles group. Not one where the intention is to set people up or anything like that. More of a sounding board for folks to just express how they feel about their singleness on any given day.
The original concept grew out of the frustrations of dating in NYC and was called the ‘I Give Up Club’. As time passed, we felt that name was too negative. We also came to the conclusion that being single doesn’t always suck.
Sometimes I feel perfectly content (dare I say even happy) to be by myself. Other days I may be pissed or in any one of a thousand other moods. From that revelation came the idea for the ‘Single and…’ group on Facebook.
This is a simple group with a simple concept. First, you go to the ‘Single and…‘ group page and join. Then, anytime you feel like it, come back to the group and write on our wall, completing the phrase ‘Single and…’ (hence the name).
There are no rules other than keep it civil and have a sense of humor. You won’t win anything here other than maybe some new friends. This is just for fun so … have at it!!
