It’s Not All MySpace’s Fault

I’m so sick of people blaming websites for their privacy issues. It’s sometimes not the websites’ fault.

Fool Me Once, Shame On You:
Now mistakes happen. You may accidentally get sucked into giving your password to a fake MySpace site. Sometimes you’re working fast and not paying attention. The hackers depend on that. Then they have all they need to post all sorts of crap in your name. But if it happens more than once, it’s your own friggin’ fault.

Fool Me Twice (or more) … I’m a Moron:
What pisses me off even more than the actual hackers are these multiple apologies that come from those who are bewildered about why it keeps happening. HELLOOOO!!! Just stop and think then this will not happen again. Take these few simple (and by simple I mean stupid) steps:

– Before you give anyone your login information, check the URL at the top of the screen. Make sure you’re still on MySpace.com. (Duh!)

– Once you change your password, keep it to yourself. If you use a public computer or one that you share and after logging in it asks if you want Windows to remember this information … SAY NO!!! (Duh!)

– If it does happen that someone got hold of your login information … once you figure it out … CHANGE IT!!! (Duh!)

Now go forth, stop bitching and protect your own damned privacy. It’s not Tom or MySpace’s fault if you yourself gave out your login information. It’s also not a breach in their security if you don’t change your information in the aftermath of a hack or you let it keep happening.

There you have it … one of the few times you’ll hear me come to the defense of MySpace. Enjoy it while you can.
