Curbing the Effects of Global Warming?

It seems Representative Albio Sires (D-NJ) doesn’t have a clue

Some folks got on my case for being too hard on Representative Albio Sires (D-NJ) in a previous post. I was angered that he was spending my tax money on a useless mailing that did little more than brag about his accomplishments. Plus, it was printed on a massive fold-out, heavy bond paper; a clear environmental no no.

For a moment, I thought maybe I was too hard on him. After all, he was only doing what any politician or business does to gain the support of the public. But then comes this latest mailing with the supposed intention is to point out how Congress has, “made curbing the effects of global warming, ensuring the quality of our nation’s water and achieving energy independence top priorities…”

Yet here again we have a smaller yet still large-scale waste of paper. I’d maybe have less of a problem with it if the full real estate of both sides was taken up by his message. Instead, most of the page is taken up by images of leaves, branches and green patches. Does this guy have any idea how much of a strain the printing and mailing of this monstrosity put on global resources? Or is he just using the hot button topic that is the environment just to get noticed?

I have no problem with him wanting to spread the word of his accomplishments and intentions, but Sires needs to learn more about the world he is supposedly working to protect. This same message could have been put across on a postcard with links to his website. Far less paper, ink, money and energy would have been expended and my respect level would have risen just a little bit.

Another large-scale waste of propaganda

On top of it all, despite telling us to contact him with any issues, he didn’t even include any way for us to do so. So please, join me in telling Representative Sires to stop wasting paper in the name of curbing global warming. Let’s see if we can help him get a clue: house.gov/sires.
