People Start Pollution. People Can Stop It.

Classic TV commercial sends a simple message. Forget all the debates over Global Warming. The poisons we spew are unsafe and killing us. Period!

Try to forget all of the debates over Global Warming for a moment. After all, they’ve been tainted by radical politics and media exploitation. Try to remember the real reason for keeping our planet clean.

Whether the temperature of the Earth is rising or falling is pretty much irrelevant and something the average person can’t even relate to. However, the poisons we spew into our environment are unsafe and killing us. Period! Not just icecaps and polar bears, but you and me. And that is very relevant.

So stop bitching about what this expert says or that politician says or whatever. Learn to recycle. Learn to conserve. And, if you’re a coldhearted asshole who couldn’t care less bout life (yours or otherwise), then just think of the money you’ll safe in your energy bills.

However you come to be environmentally aware, watch this classic TV commercial and realize that, all these years later, the message is the same:

“People start pollution. People can stop it.”

About the Video:
Over four decades ago, the Ad Council partnered with Keep America Beautiful to create a powerful visual image that dramatized how litter and other forms of pollution were hurting the environment, and how every individual has the responsibility to help protect it.

The ad called “The Crying Indian,” first aired on Earth Day in 1971 and featured Native American actor Iron Eyes Cody. Created by ad agency Marstellar, Inc., the campaign used the line, “People start pollution. People can stop it.”

The ad became one of the most memorable and successful advertising campaigns in history and was named one of the top 100 advertising campaigns of the 20th Century by Ad Age Magazine.
