The Goldhawk has that rare combination of catering to a bohemian and sporty crowd. It did both well and became a bar like no other. The Music will live on and find itself a new venue through the father of "The People's Open Mic", Dave Entwistle. It is sad, but an atmosphere and support system this good will find a new way to live on.

Hi Stephen!

Haven't seen you in a while, hope all is well. I am in COMPLETE shock. I moved out of Hoboken about two months ago and after basically living next to the Goldhawk, it was like a second home. Such a loss to 10th Street. I couldn't have imagined my experience living in Hoboken without it!

I'll be there for Val Emmich on 7/8. So cool that he's coming back for a farewell gig.

Hey Stephen!
Kagero will certainly miss the Goldhawk. We are a band from Brooklyn, but the scene in Brooklyn is a little funny. We would love to come to the People's Open Mic and hear great talent, a wonderful diversity of talent, with amazing support from everyone in the room. It was amazing to see people play songs they had just written that day, and were so excited to try them out in front of an audience, not intimidated.

And we have met some great people there, including yourself, Dave, Clueless, and the manic Lloyd United. Keep us posted if there are talks of new digs.

We are honored Dave called us for a final show, so we are there on July 1st. Hope to see you.

A very, very sad note. The Goldhawk was one of the last unique and creative outlets in the area.

A tremendous loss. I agree with your sentiments. I hope there will be a last night party.

From what I can gather, it was a decision made by the partners, not Fran. Judging from his support of the scene, there's no way he was behind the sale.
