I LEGO NY

Illustrator Christoph Niemann’s homage to NYC made entirely of Lego pieces. You gotta see this.

Award-winning illustrator and former New Yorker Christoph Niemann was daydreaming one day in his Berlin apartment. It was a bleak, cold winter day and his sons were playing on the floor with their toys. Niemann began feeling homesick, so he proceeded to construct NYC miniatures out of random Lego pieces.

He then posted snapshots of his creations — along with clever handwritten captions — on his New York Times blog. The response of readers in New York and all over the world was so great, a book was born.

The genius behind the work is the simplicity. Conveying a degree of emotions that any classic cityscape can evoke is nothing new. However, doing it with just a handful pieces of colored plastic blocks as Niemann has here is really cool.
