It's been a long time since I've seen Ross Sandler
perform by himself. For the past few years he's been
fronting the awesomely heavy Crewman Number Six. Alone he tends
to reveal a lighter side, even when he's spouting incredibly
deep notions.

His sense of the political and social climate is as sharp
as ever. Now there also seems to be a new smoothness to his
voice and a soulful maturity to his guitar playing. Of course
after the set he confessed to not practicing enough. But the
subtle chords, dangling harmonics and melodic wordplay voided
that confession in my ears.
What else can I say except to express my jealousy? Ross has
mastered two very distinct styles and just keeps getting better.
People like that really piss me off.
