This is normally the day to think back on the year behind and make promises for the year to come. I have my list of resolutions in my head. I know what improvements and changes I need to make. However, I’m not going to bore you with all that here.
Instead I want to share a song that I think is the perfect toast for New Year’s Eve. Unlike that crusty tearjerker Auld Lang Sein which insists we look back, this is a song that best sums up all the hopes anyone has when looking forward to new beginnings.
At a time when people tend to get all sorts of corny and cheesy, The Kinks put it best, “I hope tomorrow you’ll find better things.” None of the watery-eyed empty sentiments that people feel they are supposed to say. Just a simple, heartfelt wish that tomorrow will be better than today. It’s a thought that works any time of the year.
