MySpace Music Spotlight
A layer of sound builds upon itself. It’s balanced and then again not. Revealed is an oddly out-of-place but perfectly correct sense of song. A catchy, toe-tapping song. A wispy voice tells us stories ans is joined by harmonies as the orchestra of natural and synthetic music plays.
Erica Quitzow is a multi-instumentalist to be reckoned with. But, then again, she’ll put you so at ease with her curious sound, you’ll forget how to reckon anything. The recordings are primarily a one-woman show out of her home in Upstate New York. Help comes from various friends for the live shows.
Aside from the originality in the arrangements and span of instrumentation, it was the song quality that captivated me. There are two things in that I’m a sucker for when it comes to music. Bravery in experimentation to the point of extremes and a well-constructed song with just the right hook.
Quitzow delivers both.
