Complimentary lunch at upscale hotels, one of my favorite hobbies
I just got back from a yummy lunch at the Paramount Hotel here in NYC. Oh it’s good to have friends in the hotel biz. Michele Brown is their Transient Sales Manager (I love that title). She invited me and Liz Hartman (Ava Lounge) out for lunch. She used to work with Liz at Ava and that’s how I met her.
The large lobby was impressive with its odd mix of art deco, metal walls and log furniture (yes, logs … go figure). The restaurant overlooks the massive lobby. The food (I had the Fettuccini Verdi w/Chicken) was delicious. It was nice to have a long, relaxing lunch for a change. Ya know … a break from getting ketchup and crumbs in my keyboard.
Michele showed us a couple of rooms. Talk about tiny. Seriously … 90 square feet! Basically a bed, period. Then there was the Superior Room. Not much bigger. But then again when you come to NYC the hotel is basically for sleeping. Still it never ceases to amaze me how expensive it is to sleep here.
From what Michele was telling us, the bar is really good as well. This being lunch however I opted for the lemonade, which was very good.
In April 2006 the Paramount will begin its transformation into a Hard Rock Hotel. We’ll have to see what that will be like when it’s completed.
