I’m so very proud of my dear friend Lisa
Some time ago she mentioned to me that she wanted to buy the school where she was teaching. It was run by the store owners of Musically Yours in Hackensack, NJ. This required her selling her co-op and wrangling together all sorts of legalities. From all of her dedication and hard work came The Valdez Performing Arts Center (valdezpac.com) in Hackensack, NJ.
She actually opened her doors in September after taking over from the local music store called Musically Yours. In that short time, she’s already seriously increased the number of students and teachers. Not to mention adding her own special touch of color and personality in the place itself.
Each studio is a different color and the waiting room walls are adorned with a series of four paintings she bought off of eBay. They used to hang in her home but their bold red expressions of musical instruments fit perfectly here.
I wish her all the success in the world because she deserves it. I also wish I had the patience to be a teacher. It would be fun to work with her again. Although I think we’d spend the whole day cracking each other up and totally neglect the children. We have a very ‘Jerry & Elaine’ kind of relationship.
