There’s a potential for yet another great night of original music in Hoboken. Dave Entwistle — who hosts Wednesday’s Peoples Open Mic and Thursday’s Live Music Nights at Northern Soul (557 1st St, Hoboken) — recently brought local Songwriters to Tuesday nights.
I say it’s a potential because it’s brand new and the bar owners need a little convincing to continue. It’s understandable, they’re businessmen after all. Nothing lasts in this area that doesn’t bring in the money. But judging from the night I was there, this was an impressive crowd for so early in the week.
On that, I saw four talented friends (Marc Giannotti, Susan Lazorchick, Tracy Thorne, and Dom Dellafave) try out new material and play old favorites. Yes, the setting inside Northern Soul can be a challenge, competing with darts and the pool table. But the right performers will find this place ideal for showcasing their work.
I have faith in the survival of this infant showcase, with your support. So keep an eye out for the next Songwriter Tuesday and support live original music.
