I was first introduced to the fine, country-tinged storytelling of Atlanta’s Blake Rainey at WE Fest XI (2007) in Wilmington, NC. I was impressed by his subtle style and ease in conveying deep, complex emotions. The song ‘The Dangerous Winter’ always chokes me up. From the unlikely beginnings as a punk vocalist to a truly accomplished balladeer, Rainey opens up and let’s us in with ten amazing tracks on his 2006 album ‘The Dangerous Summer’.

I’ve never heard his earlier thrashings, but I’m certainly curious now. This is his second acoustic offering and I for one hope there will be many more to come. It’s really the kind of music you can enjoy while sipping lemonade on a rocking chair in the hot southern sun. You find yourself comforted in knowing that his demons are your demons and he has taken on the task of exorcism.
