Last Bash at RodeoRistra LOUNGE Hoboken, NJ

Over the past few years, a rag-tag group of creative folks in Hoboken formed an amazing original art, poetry and music scene at the RodeoRistra LOUNGE guided by the watchful eyes, ears and soul of ArtKore.org’s Ivy.

Fiercely independent and wholly organic, it is a scene I’m proud to have been a part of from the beginning.

I’m very sad to say that Sunday, October 10th was the last show at the RodeoRistra LOUNGE. They are shifting gears to become a full service restaurant. Ivy decided it was appropriate to have one last music bash and to get as many of the original players back as possible.

With so many of our old friends milling about, many of us kept feeling an odd almost melancholy sort of déjà vu. After all this is where most of us met or got to know each other. And now here we were again trying to keep the scene alive.

However a sentiment that echoed throughout the day was the fact that a space can only house a scene. The people make it come alive. And the banner behind the bands confirmed that with a quote from Brandon Boyd of Incubus that read, “Reinvent the scene one week at a time.” This is what we have been doing and this is what we will continue to do.

And so now we move on to a new home in the Shannon (106 1st Street Hoboken). I’m excited because I know that we will all continue to and grow and I will continue to meet fascinatingly talented people along the way.

In the meantime, here are some pictures I took at the final RodeoRistra day. I’d like to apologize to Bobby Syvarth and Diesel Theory. Sadly towards the end of the day all of the merriment had gotten to me and I passed out on a chair in the back room of the bar missing both of their sets. Also there are no images of Eric and I (Ya-Ne-Zniyoo) because I was so excited and caught up in everything that I forgot to hand off my camera when we got up to play. Anyway …
