I recently received an email from Jessica Rice at FOX Business Network about a new, interesting project for me. On the phone later that day, she told me how fascinating she found Mustaches vs. Cancer and asked asked if I would want to interview John Stossel and his iconic ‘stache.
I was worried that I had blown the gig before I even got it since my mustache fell to the blade just a couple of days before. No worries, though. Jessica still felt the charity was an interesting opener for a conversation. So, we moved forward with preparing for my interview.
Now, I’d like to say that we sat under hot studio lights, Stossel sweating out the more indecent details of a hidden past that only my mighty journalistic prowess could drag out. Alas, thanks to overwhelming scheduling stresses on both our parts, all was done over email.
What started as a funny exposé about his mustache, took a bit of a turn. Since I was writing this for Men’s Fitness, I decided to hit on a few points about his life changes. You see, at 62, he’s shedding the ABC garb for a new panel show in front of a live audience on FOX Business Network.
As FOX’s resident mustachioed duo, John Stossel and Geraldo Rivera were both kind enough to let me create a fun little survey. I called it “Battle of the Network ‘Staches” and readers can vote on whose mustache would win in a fight. I thank them for being such good sports.
