While My Guitar Gently Chirps

Musical birds invade London art gallery. Come see what happens when plucky zebra finches are set loose in an electric guitar aviary

What do you think would happen if a flock of plucky zebra finches were set loose in an electrified aviary of guitars? French installation artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot is about to let us know.

By just going about their business, these critters will create scratching, squealing soundscapes that would make Thurston Moore and Adrian Belew proud. Perching on guitars plugged into loud amplifiers, the birds will have the Barbican Art Gallery in London buzzing. Literally.

A trained musician and composer, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot draws on everyday rhythms to produce sound in unexpected ways. This piece is scheduled to be on display from February 27 thru May 23, 2010.
