I first heard Waking Lights when they performed this past summer at Maxwell’s (1039 Washington St, Hoboken). I was impressed by their hippie-meets-bluegrass, folksy vibe with the added classical treat of cello and violin.

This track ‘Ice Cream & Vicodin’ from their EP ‘Songs for Jo’ is a perfect mix of all their elements. It’s subtly contagious melody and infectious shuffle break down into soft, ethereal spaciness. Theirs is a very unique yet easily accessible sound.

Dude, seriously, where would we be without it. So glad “space” sent me in the direction of a bunch of peeps they thought i’d like to be in touch with, cuz man since i moved back to Jersey from where i was in midtown nyc, i am out of the loop. Be back in it asap tho. peaceout dude. Joe J
