Help Finance a Food Truck for Hoboken’s ‘Do Good Donuts’

From bike delivery to a food truck, this local Hoboken fave is looking to scale up with a new Kickstarter campaign

I’ll get right to the point. My friend Emily of Do Good Donuts needs your help to fund the next step in her business; A food truck. She’s started a Kickstarter campaign. Here’s some backstory. Last year, Emily took a major step and bought a bus she called her ‘big baby girl’ with the hopes of building it out. Unfortunately, it would break down shortly after. This started a long, painful time of trying to find a solution. She found a mechanic who told her he would fix it. Spoiler, he didn’t. Instead, he held the truck hostage, demanding an exorbitant amount of money up front before he’d do any work. Long story short, she lost the food truck and had to start over from scratch.

What’s amazing about Emily and Do Good Donuts is that she has not only continued to fiercely move forward with her business, she thrived. Doing it all from her tiny apartment in Hoboken, delivering to thousands (yes, literally thousands) of customers, and racking up over fifteen miles a day delivering donuts on her bike! On top of that, doing numerous pop-up events throughout Hoboken, Jersey City, and beyond. Emily is also a tireless advocate for human rights and climate justice (hence ‘Do Good’). She’s a rockstar for sure!

That brings us more or less to now. Sadly, Emily’s bike was recently stolen but she continues to diligently deliver her treats and do pop-ups, only now either on foot with a large carriage in tow or spending money on ride shares. Her need for an upgrade is apparent. She was able to secure a relationship with a new and trustworthy mechanic and has begun the task of designing a replacement food truck. What she needs is help raising the funds to buy the actual truck. And that’s where you come in.

She has a Kickstarter campaign called ‘Help Fund Do Good Donuts Food Truck‘. If you love donuts (and who doesn’t?) and want to support a fantastic local, independent business, please pledge your support.

“I know beyond words how tough times are for so many. I know of a million causes who deserve our money but you know I will give back tenfold, with whatever you’re able to give. If every single person who follows me gave $7 today, we could be done!” ~ Emily, Do Good Donuts

You can of course pledge whatever you’re comfortable with. As in any crowdfunding campaign, there are many levels of rewards you can earn from your pledge. See the list below.

As a former food business owner, I know the pressures of trying to make it work. I now how easy it is to throw in the towel and move on. Like many others, I burned out. I don’t wish that on anyone. Especially a friend. So, let’s work together to help Emily continue making her amazing donuts and being a champion for a better world.

Cheers!
Stephen
