Cafe Spotlight: Royal Grille Beverage Trailer Wildwood Crest NJ

Nicknamed ‘The Anchor’ this cute li’l cart serves refreshing drinks at resonable prices.

After a couple of miles of walking the area around Wildwood Crest on this cooler than normal summer morning, I needed a pick-me-up. Not being a coffee drinker but still wanting to support a local business, I stopped by the adorable Royal Grille Beverage Trailerm (aka The Anchor) by the Port Royal Hotel (6801 Ocean Ave Wildwood Crest NJ). A posh looking place that is also home to the Royal Grille Restaurant. I asked for a good, non-coffee recommendation. The young lady suggested their Arnold Palmer (iced tea & lemonade). Very good. Not too sweet, a nice blend of flavor, and reasonably priced for a resort town in the summer ($4 for 12 oz). Despite being an overcast morning, it was very refreshing. I highly approve of this tiny drink cart.

A Funny, Random Interaction
I walked a bit north from The Anchor and sat for a moment on one of the many public benches along the way. I was near the entrance to the boardwalk, enjoying my drink, and jotting down notes. A boy all of maybe twelve years old approached on his bike and randomly asked me if I was a Knicks fan. I said, “Well, I’m not really a sports fan but I’m glad they won.” As he rode off he yelled, “Oh why would you be happy about that?!” I yelled back, “Because I live up there!” And he stopped, looked back, and replied, “OK. That makes sense then,” and continued on his way. I laughed and continued sipping my drink.
