My friend Nelson Pla of the band clueLess was recently in Austin for SxSW. Of the many discoveries he made, one in particular stuck out. Elf Power from Athens, GA has a sound that’s tough to peg. It starts with the diminished chordal qualities of 60s psychodelia, adds some glam-pop sensibilities and builds from there.
This troupe of multi-talented players delivers a collection of original and memorable tunes. A strong yet pliable backbeat, fluid bass lines, tonal dynamics and a knack for stacking seemingly unrelated textures in a very pleasing way are what makes their latest CD ‘In A Cave’ such a delight.
