An Incomplete List of Impolite Words

Carlin’s ability to play with words the way a great musician plays with notes inspired the writer in me.

We all know the famous ‘Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television’.

Shit, Piss, Fuck, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker, Tits

However, ‘An Incomplete List of Impolite Words’ from ‘Carlin at Carnegie’ (HBO – 1982) is by far my favorite of Carlin’s massive word ballets. It showcases the most amazing part of his talent. More than a comedian, actor or social and political commentator, George Carlin was a pure wordsmith.

His ability to play with words the way a great musician plays with notes was what attracted and inspired the writer in me. He will be missed. Thankfully the man worked, wrote, recorded and performed constantly. So there is a treasure trove of material that will be available for generations to come.
