Thai USA’s daring new fund raising methods
Thai USA Association is one of my freelance clients run in part by my good friend Sara Paleewong. They’re a wonderful group that works to unite those of Thai decent here in the US as well as championing many charities in Thailand.
In an effort to raise money and awareness for their various causes, they’ve introduced a T-Shirt design that is definitely memorable. And, since I was the one who added these babies to their website, I felt it was also my duty to tell you all about them.
The shirt’s debut at this year’s Boston Mayfair Festival was greeted with a variety of reactions. While some got the humor, others thought it was racist asking if the Thai USA folks knew what the phrase meant in English (talk about racist). In the end these fashion staples would be their best selling item.
I for one love this and I think Thai USA has hit on a brilliant piece of marketing genius. Controversy and humor (especially when combined) often bring priceless exposure. And if their intent is to garner attention, this will do the trick. And I hope to help them on that mission.
So go, buy, support … and get a rockin’ new tee out of it. They come in all sizes and an array of colors. There’s something here for everyone to delight and/or offend the world; whatever the case may be.
