Faster Than a Speeding Mailman

Have you ever wondered who’s been selling your information? Banks? Sure. Supermarkets? Yep. The government? Wait, what?

On Tuesday July 18, I filed to be designated an L.L.C. in the state of NJ thanks to the help of Valerie L. Boccadoro, Esq. About a week later I received notice from the State that all went well and a week after that I got my certified papers. Now I’m just waiting for my Federal ID number to come thru.

During the time between filing and receiving my papers, I already started getting junk mail addressed to Stephen Bailey, LLC. I’m talking in a matter of days. In fact the junk mail started coming before I received the certified papers.

And I’m not alone. Several other friends who have registered a business in NY, NJ and elsewhere have noticed the same thing. All I can say is, “Man, the State works fast when it comes to selling you out!”

It reminds me of a time several years ago when some dufus was running for Congress. One of his big promises was to cut down on intrusive marketing. However, for five days before the election I received multiple phone calls and flyers from his camp. No, I did not vote for him and I’m pretty sure he lost. I can’t remember his name though.

I’ve become a little more excepting of companies like my local bank who sell my information. This is because they’ve reduced my fees, raised my dividends and offer a lot of free services that not to long ago I had to pay for. But there is just something creepy about the government doing it while continually raising my taxes and cutting back on services. Am I alone in this?
