Sandwishes and Deli Dreams

Where serving up food without spellcheck is funny

I kinda feel for the owners of this place since–unlike a blog–fixing a sign like this is a major undertaking.

Imagine a castle ten feet high set on the edge of the sea. Made of the finest sand and packed with just the right amount of salt water. The structure is so stable that you could sit inside with several friends and eat from a platter of cold cuts and sip soft drinks. Ah that would be a great wish come true. But alas, this was not the case.

Instead, I was walking the other day in Hoboken and came across The Sunshine Deli & Grocery. A place I’ve probably passed many times. For some reason on this day, the sign caught my eye. Something was not quite right. And that’s when I saw it. The need for spellcheck was never made so clear.

I feel for the owners of this place since–unlike a blog or whatever–fixing a sign of this size is a major (and expensive) undertaking. I wonder if they’ve even noticed the error yet. I mean after all, folks (like me) may feel it to be too embarrassing to point it out. So maybe no one has.
