My new(ish) noise & soundscape project

Yes it’s true, I’m using my own website to shamelessly promote my new project. Big whoop … wanna fight about it? Things go boom. Things go crack. There may be a hum, but in the end it’s all the same. Check out this piece called ‘New York’.

Yes it’s true, I’m using my own website to shamelessly promote my new project. Big whoop … wanna fight about it?

Things go boom. Things go crack. There may be a hum, but in the end it’s all the same. While I work to construct new pieces, I’ll post some older gems on MySpace.com/butterscotchbuddha as I find them.

This piece for instance is called ‘New York’. It was made using various outtakes from recordings in 2001 of my band Ya-Ne-Zniyoo and (of course) running them thru all sorts of filters and such. Eric Schmitz – Vocals & Acoustic Guitar, Craig Meyer – Bass, Doug Hammond – Drums, Me – Guitar and Producer/Engineer Gabriel Añel who helped gather the outtakes.

Also included are some samples from the movie ‘Moscow on the Hudson’ including a brilliant speech about the evils of NYC (hence the name of the piece). At one point Robin Williams yells the name of the band. It originally appeared on the album ‘All Is Not Lost’ by my band Ya-Ne-Zniyoo in 2003.

Funny side story; ‘New York’ is the most downloaded track off of the Ya-Ne-Zniyoo album. I find this funny because it’s not even a song, per se. So I fantasize about all of these crazy DJs cutting my whacky concoction into their repertoire.
