Spongedavid Bowiepants

David Bowie on Spongebob Squarepants? You betcha!!

And it’s things like this that make me love the man. He constantly takes on challenges that test his own boundaries. Remember The Man Who Fell to Earth? The Elephant Man on Broadway? Labyrinth? That whole white soul period in the 80s?

And it’s things like this that make me love the man. He constantly takes on challenges that test his own boundaries. Remember The Man Who Fell to Earth? The Elephant Man on Broadway? Labyrinth? That whole white soul period in the 80s? Becoming a tradable commodity on Wall Street. After 40 years in the entertainment business, Bowie still just does whatever the hell he wants and never rests on his laurels.

And so what if some of his choices things wreak of pure commercialism? Why are any of us in business? To make money. Besides, Bowie was someone who was totally screwed over financially thru a good portion of his career. So I say go ahead David and have your line of clothes at Target. Have your own internet service provider and yes, oh yes … please be the voice of King Lord Royal Highness in the next Spongebob Squarepants TV movie ‘Atlantis SquarePantis’.

I’m not being facetious here, I’m totally serious in saying that this move makes me an even bigger fan. I for one love the made for kids but adults can love it too edgy humor of Spongebob Squarepants. The fact that it’s on at 1:00 AM means the folks at Nickelodeon know us overgrown children are watching. This match with Bowie is as perfect as him singing with Bing Crosby. Insiders thought he was crazy back then, but that version of Little Drummer Boy is a classic now.

I for one can’t wait to see it on Nickelodeon – Monday, November 12 … and many times thereafter.
