It’s tunes like this that remind of why I got into these style-melding Canadians. From their brilliant 2006 release ‘Soapbox Heroes’, the song ‘No More Stones’ starts out with the sounds of Scottish folk then smacks you with classic metal power. Solid vocal harmonies, bagpipes and fiddle work their magic with the hard rock of guitar, bass and drums.

And there is more to their sound than that, bringing in a variety of world flavors. The first and only time I saw them live was in September 2006 when they played at Coda in NYC. I was blown away. There was an impressive range of dynamics and tone in the performance. They don’t get to NYC very often but they tour constantly so I hope to see them again soon.
