My latest video edit for Men’s Fitness
OK I admit it, I don’t really know much about Ciara or her music, but I know what makes a good video. Shot by my colleague Erin Medley, this video is playful and sexy. Challenges posed by this shoot were the tiny location and the large crew who were there for the magazine’s photo shoot.
Erin had to move stealthily amid hair stylists, makeup artists, lighting equipment and a small army of handlers, assistants and hangers on. Her patience and good eye paid off with plenty of great moments to choose from. I still can’t figure how she kept herself out of the mirror.
The subtle, human side of the famous always fascinates me and I tried to capture that in this edit. Ciara, like anyone, had concerns that she didn’t look good here or there. Unfounded of course, but it was in those moments where she showed that vulnerability in her eyes that — for me — made this an easy edit.
In the end, Ciara and her people approved and I have my third professional edit under my belt. One that I can be proud of, if I may say so myself.
