This version of ‘DaDa’ by by Nigerian-born singer Layori is a remix by Renaud Letang and the first official video from the debut album ‘Origins’. Mesmerizing is her song. Graceful is her beauty. Powerful is her presence. And the smooth production washes calmly over the desert sand.
She’s singing in her native tongue (Yoruba), so I honestly have no idea what she’s saying and it doesn’t matter. It’s easy to get caught up in the textured mystery of the music. The emotional journey it inspires is far larger than the deceptively simple sound would imply. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Layori.
