Do or Do Not. There is No Try.

The wisdom of Yoda as a communication tool. Proper use of his words should garner one of two results. One funny and one not so much.

There are many things that I despise about the corporate world. Politicking, back stabbing, butt kissing, incompetence and so on. The most annoying thing is the lack of communication. Or, better yet, the lack of useful communication.

Each day my inbox fills up with messages I can’t—or don’t know how to—answer. These are usually inane questions to abstract concepts that may or may not have a major impact on the future of the company and—ipso facto—my life.

The other problem is, sometimes there is just no answer to be had.

I may have found the perfect way to handle things thru the wisdom of Yoda. The words of the Jedi Master ring true in most any situation.

Now I won’t tell you in which situations to use these. The beauty is in finding that out on your own. I feel Master Yoda would want it that way.

Proper use of these phrases should garner one of two results. Luckily for me, I get a kick out of either scenario.

  • It could make the other person laugh, defusing the situation
  • It could anger the other person, exacerbating the situation

Use them wisely:

  • “Go to the center of the gravity’s pull, and find your planet you will.”
  • “Meditate on this, I will.”
  • “Clear, your mind must be if you are to discover the real villains behind the plot.”
  • “Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”
  • “Not if anything to say about it, I have!”
  • “How you get so big, eating food of this kind?”
  • “No! Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.”
  • “You will know… when you are calm, at peace, passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”
  • “So certain are you. Always with you it cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?”
  • “No! No different! Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned.”
  • “Hmm. Control, control. You must learn control.”
  • “Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.”
  • “Decide you must how to serve them best. If you leave now, help them you could. But you would destroy all for which they have fought and suffered.”

And, if all else fails:

  • “Mine! Mine! Mine! MINE!!!”
