Kutiman Remixes YouTube

Taking unrelated videos and making magic, an artist from Israel turns snippets of YouTube videos into totally new pieces of music.

Finally a constructive, creative use those millions of videos swarming the web.

Kutiman is an artist from Israel who takes snippets (many, many snippets) of unrelated YouTube videos and makes shockingly original and incredibly good new pieces of music. He calls the project Thru You.

Think NegativLand for the 21st Century.

What makes him different from the found-tape artists of years past is that he gives full credit to every clip used. His intent goes beyond making cool music. His desire is to expose the many artists who inspire his work to the world.

I had a hard time choosing which video to post. I settled on these two. The first is called ‘I’m New’. I was fascinated with the depth and breadth of the piece, totally hooked from the moment when the string accents come in toward the beginning thru it’s movements into soulful serenades and hip-hop rhymes

The second features the artist himself describing how he created his work.

Enjoy!
