Beer In Space!

Jim Henson put pigs in space. Mel Brooks put Jews in space. NASA puts everything in space. So, why can’t the rest of us have a party?

In 2007, Thirsty Swagman founder Kenneth Hart set out to create a whole new category in the travel industry called Pub Crawl Adventures. To date, their parties have hit all corners of the Earth. So now, it’s time to reach beyond.

The Australian company aims to make the incredible fantasy adventure of downing a frosty one in space a reality. At some point in 2012 or 2013, they will be offering an actual party beyond the clouds. Called Beer in Space, there will be two main options to choose from.

For the truly adventurous, a flight into space starting at $95,000. For those with a weaker constitution (or bank account), a zero-gravity/parabolic flight starting at $9,900. The beer, called Vostok Space Beer (brewed by 4 Pines Brewing Company) will be specially brewed for zero-gravity consumption. I’m not exactly sure what that means.

Space tourism is barely a glimmer in the eyes of those investing in it right now. That makes the idea of having a party 62 miles in the sky seem completely outrageous. There are a ton of details that still need ironing out. Not the least of which is the legality of consuming beer in space or if it’s wise to be drunk in zero gravity.

For more details, check out the Beer in Space website. You can sign up to be on their list so when they are ready, you could be one of the lucky revelers. I will most likely not be joining you. I’d much rather be spaced out safely on terra firma.

What an amazing idea! So cool. If I had 95k I’d do this in a heartbeat.
