Massive Doctor Who Portrait Project

Illustrator Jesse Hamm is sketching portraits of every Doctor and Companion from the long-running BBC sci-fi classic Doctor Who.

Illustrator Jesse Hamm (‘Good as Lily’ DC Comics, Minx) has taken on one bear of a project. He’s working to create sketch portraits of every single Doctor and Companion from the BBC long-running sci-fi classic Doctor Who.

David Tennant and Billie Piper (my personal favorite pair). Click here for more.

This is no easy task, as any fan of the show could guess. A character trait of the Doctor, that has helped keep the series fresh since it’s debut in 1963, is his ability (or need) to regenerate. Taking on a new look and personality every so often means the faces of many actors slipping into the TARDIS.

More often has been the addition of a new Companion. A term that varies in definition by the BBC, it tends to refer to pretty, young girls (although not always) who find themselves thrown into adventure. These companions would add comic relief, romance, or some other dimension to the densely nerdy fantasy storylines.

Hamm’s work precisely captures the personality of each character thru his stark sketches. You can check out this project at periscopestudio.com.
