The Other Sound: Atlanta, GA

The art of music, drinks, food and making new friends

Four nights of the best indie music Atlanta has to offer. I honestly never expected to return to such a vibrant scene here. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. Plus it all culminated on my birthday with wonderful new friends. So how could I resist?

The art of music, drinks, food and making new friends

It’s been a long time since my last trip to Atlanta. Thirteen years ago I was there on business and I will confess to not being overly impressed by the music scene. I basically found one spot, Masquerades, where I saw Man or Astro Man and planted myself there for the next few nights. I’ve since learned that the place is no longer the center of coolness. So I was curious to see how things had changed.

I honestly never expected to return to such a vibrant scene here. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. It was four nights of the best indie music Atlanta had to offer thanks to the inspiration of my friend and WE Fest veteran Kim Ware and a team of dedicated music fans. Plus it all culminated on my birthday. So How could I resist. Music, drinks, food and all these new friends left me with a completely different outlook on this once hip hop-centric town.
