Combining glamour photography and digital art

I first saw the work of Neil Nakahara (aka FrizzyCube) when he did some very interesting portraits of singer/songwriter Anna Yvette. Recently, I started to see more of his work floating around the web.

Although Nakahara is based out of NYC, his work often feels as if it’s from another world. He takes classic, glamour portraits and twists them into an entirely new form with imaginative digital manipulation. His work is meant to titillate, challenge and maybe shock the eye, but this isn’t shock for shock sake.

Each visual element — whether from the realm of reality or fantasy — has a place in the frame. Nothing interferes with the sheer beauty of the subject which could be a sexy model or a homicidal clown or the artist confronting himself.

Check these cool samples of his work.
