Don’t fix things, just make a weirder error page
There is no doubt that the recent decision by Digg to stop the social aspects of their social site has driven boatloads of users over to Twitter. I’m in the process of setting up a second Twitter profile to use solely for shouting Digg stories.
Since this new onslaught of Digg users becoming Twitter users, the site’s capacity issues glare. It’s more of Twitter’s same old inability to handle its own traffic. As they try to resolve things, they’ve blessed us with a new Fail page.
The new (and very cryptic) abstract image comes with this new error message:
Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.
Let’s hope so. How will we shout our Diggs if they don’t fix this? Oh wait … DiggShout.com (at least until Digg’s trademark police shut it down).
