Skanatra’s last hurrah at The Goldhawk, Hoboken

July 10, 2009: If you had never seen Skanatra before, this was the night to see them. It had been two years since these nine guys shared a stage and at this special reunion it was as though they never skipped a beat.

We celebrated the city of Hoboken, the music of Frank Sinatra and the legacy of The Goldhawk. We sang and jumped, drank and danced, sweat and cried.

That’s life
That’s what all the people say

Sinatra set to the bounce of ska brought joy to this sad, final night of live music at The Goldhawk. It was appropriate on many levels. Singer Fran Azzarto was part owner of this place and the band itself is a slice of Hoboken culture.

With the last three songs — My Way, New York and That’s Life — it began to set in. This will all be gone soon. For tonight however, we danced because:

In Llama Land there’s a one-man band
And he’ll too his flute for you
