The Return of the Jersey Beat Podcast

Jim Testa brings it back after a year

There I was, minding my own business, just trying to get some money out of an ATM on Park Avenue. Then, all of a sudden I hear, “Give me all your money!” The weird part is, I knew without looking that it was a joke. The voice was that of my friend Jim Testa from Jersey Beat. He just happened to see me thru the window as he was walking by. He wanted to tell me some great news.

On May 16, 2009 after a year (to the very day), Jim brought back the popular Jersey Beat Podcast. So why the wait? Here’s Jims tale:

“It started with a new computer. I had some technical problems at first. The new sound card wouldn’t work with my microphone and then there was a problem with the volume levels. I finally got everything working and intended to start the podcast up again, but between procrastination and other things that came up, I just never pulled the trigger. I compiled mp3’s for a June show about Insubordination Fest, a 4th of July show and a Christmas show, but somehow never recorded them.

“Then several months ago, I started doing a one-hour radio show called “Rock N Roll Gas Station” for BlowupRadio.com, which went so well that it started being rebroadcast on ThePenguinRocks.com Internet radio out of Asbury Park. That took up enough time to keep me busy for a while, but there’s a very limited audience for streaming web radio, and people who used to listen to the podcast would tell me that they were never in front of a computer when the radio show was on. So I finally got myself organized and here we are.”

So, even though Jim has not been off the air as long as the Jersey Beat Podcast‘s downtime would imply, we’re glad to have him back.
