This was another really fun find. Shout out to the social robot overlords for allowing me to come across these colorfully quirky wooden robots. Created by Paolo Pedini of Zero Pop Art, these amusing art pieces are inspired by popular culture. Superheroes, sci-fi, pop culture, etc. Utilizing a wood base, colorful paint, and all manner of recycled found items, the artist really brings these bots to life.
With a background in graphic design, Pedini spent over a decade producing many 2D works and murals but by 2019 he felt it was time for a change. In 2020, thanks to Covid (and the forced quarantine many suffered) he found himself with time to experiment with different types of 3D sculptures. That’s when he created these whimsical wooden characters.

There’s personality and emotion in each of these li’l fellas. Some will make you laugh, others will genuinely tug on your heartstrings. Whatever it is, they will all make you feel something. Pedini has said there are times when he’s made such a connection to a robot that he can’t part with it. Thankfully that doesn’t happen too often.
Pedini runs Zero Pop Art with his wife Sarah in Charlotte, NC. His work can be found at Marquee in Asheville, NC as well as at different events through the year. In addition to figures inspired by pop culture, you can request and purchase custom robots online at zeropopart.com. So be sure to give them a visit.
Cheers!
Stephen
