Lunch Spotlight: Mac-A-Doodles, Stamford NY

I admit the name of this place was what caught my eye but the food and service is what won me over.

Mac-A-Doodles (33 Harper St Stamford NY), with a name like that, how could I resist? After reading some online reviews, I decided this place fell right in my comfort zone. A casual spot serving simple but delicious American fare like burgers, wraps, sandwiches, etc. There are some unique flavor combos as well which appealed to the sandwich maker in me. Their ice cream also gets rave reviews, for good reason.

Ordering is done outside thru a walk-up window and dining was in an indoor/outdoor area furnished with a variety of mismatched tables and chairs with TV screens on the walls. I got the Gabrielle Sandwich. Very well-stacked with juicy, tender grilled chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, provolone, and a garlic dill aioli on a soft roll. It was served with chips and a pickle. It was a high quality, well made, and satisfying lunch.

For dessert I got an Oreo Flurry. Pretty self explanatory and tasty (sorry, the photo doesn’t do it justice). Bits of real Oreo cookies that typically comes with soft serve vanilla (which is what I got) but chocolate is also available. While the angel and devil on my shoulders were arguing about whether or not I should’ve been eating this, I was happy. It really hit the spot. All in all this was a very hearty lunch for around $22.00.

Staff was friendly and service was quick. They offer weekly, off-menu specials. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for updates. If you’re like me and you have a soft spot for comfort food with a bit of a twist, definitely check out Mac-A-Doodles when you’re in the Stamford, NY area.
