‘Invisible Scars’ E.P. by Stamp of Nature
Recently I did something I haven’t done in far too long. I went to the Elks Lodge in Hoboken, NJ. I was there with others to celebrate the life of a sadly too young departed soul (RIP Pat). His life had touched all of us. In between the sharing of memories and funny stories were poignant moments of simply reconnecting with old friends. I’ve lost so much time with everyone. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. One such friend is Dominick Della Fave.
Dom is a local legend. A singer, songwriter, and guitarist with bands such as Eugene, The Fave, King Nectar, The Maybes, and more. He pulled me aside to tell me how proud he was of his latest project called Stamp of Nature and the new E.P. ‘Invisible Scars’. It’s a collection of old songs that he’s had knocking around his catalog for years that he never felt were truly finished (except for the track ‘Speak Easy’ which takes on the frustrations of current events). Not long ago, he decided to give them new life. I’m glad he did.
These are fantastic, impressive songs. If you’re familiar with Dom’s projects, you will hear the years of influence shining through the songs. If you’re not familiar, this recording can be enjoyed on its own merits. The intertwined guitars, measured backing tracks, and layered production build the perfect foundation for the thoughtful vocals. You can feel the emotions and the very therapy on each track. Listen to the first track below.
One thing Dom told me was to listen to it in order because he put a lot of effort into how it was presented and it shows. He wanted to know if I’d like it. It’s safe to say that I do. My only complaint is that I wish there were more songs. Anyhoo, check it out through the links below.
Cheers!
Stephen
