Taking a NY break from Beijing life

My friend Jennifer was in town for a visit before returning to her Chinese adventure.

My friend Jennifer takes a NY break from Beijing life

About five months ago, my friend Jennifer made what I’d call a pretty bold move. From the security of a life and career in NYC, she dove head first into an adventure in China. She had vacationed there and was so taken by the culture, it left an indelible impression on her.

So, she learned the language and studied the culture as best as she could here in NYC. She realized though that there was only one way to truly appreciate Chinese life. Before we knew it, off she went on this amazing adventure. She is among a growing number of my friends to take such leaps. Like the others, her story is an inspiration to me. Someday I will take my own leap. Until then, I live vicariously thru those who have the nerve I’ve yet to uncover in myself.

Smiley happy Jennifer. Check out her blog: Ni Hao, Beijing

Jennifer was back in NYC for a short visit and a wedding. A bunch of us met for drinks at Rumours (933 8th Ave, NYC). It was great to see her and hear about her new life. A life that was supposed to be a few short months, but now she’s not so sure. Although she knows NYC is truly her home, Beijing is offering her opportunities this city just cannot. And she hopes that extends past the Olympics.
