Well-Deserved Praise

Bar and host get some local respect

Last week, as I scrambled with my last-minute holiday shopping, I was greeted at a nearby store by a familiar face on the cover of the local newspaper 'Current'. I had to do a double take.

Dave Entwistle is the host of The Peoples Open Mic, a weekly showcase for local talent at The Goldhawk in Hoboken. His playful, slightly flippant pose on their cover was very well deserved. He and those at The Goldhawk have played a major roll in the music resurgence in Hoboken to say the least.

Simply put, the scene would not be what it is today without them. It's nice to see the local community recognizing the efforts of these talented folks. Efforts that have been in the works, under one moniker or another, for over six years.
