Watch as my life spirals into control
My practice of avoidance has to be set aside tonight. Eric wants to play the ArtKore open mic at the Goldhawk and it’s been a while since we’ve been there. This is one of the bars that I’ve been keeping away from since it is such a source of fond drunken memories.
Well, to be honest, I have not really had any bad experiences from drinking in quite a few years. Oh sure the occasional bad night here and there where I got a bit ‘moody’ as a couple of my cohorts can attest to, but nothing to keep me from drinking.
Since this challenge of mine was done as a way to detoxify and discipline myself and NOT to keep me out of dangerous, unhappy situations, the fun is what has made it hard to stay away. So tonight I will test myself in a big way. Most of my friends that will be there have not seen me since I started this. Many of them don’t even know I’m doing this. It should be interesting.
Other bars on my avoidance list include Louise & Jerry’s and the Russian Samovar. Soon I will be able to comfortably patronize their stools. Oh … that sounds gross.
