War is Over! (If You Want It)

Can it be that simple? Yes, it really can! Toss off your prejudice, your ignorance, your hatred and open your mind, your eyes, your heart.

Is your belief so much better than another belief that you need to kill to prove it?

No, it’s really not!

Once again, it is the time of year when we honor the words and the wisdom of John Lennon. Yoko Ono began a simple tradition to celebrate his life and lifelong quest for peace. With the growing violence in the world, it may seem that this is a lost cause. I can’t think that way.

It’s hard at times not to get caught up in the spiraling madness that is the evening news, but I need to believe. I need to think that positive words can change the world. And if I can make my tiny corner of the world a happier place, then I’ve done my job.

And yes, part of that job is to simply declare the end of war.

By declaring it, it can be done.

By choosing to change how we think of the world, we can make it a better place.

Corny? Maybe. I don’t care.

Please take a moment, go to imaginepeace.com and download some ‘War is Over’ art. The iconic poster is available for free in a multitude of languages.

Print one out and display it. In your car window, on your desk or wherever. The idea is to allow yourself and your neighbors the chance to take a moment to simply imagine peace. This message means as much now as it did back in 1969 when John and Yoko set out to create a campaign for peace. Plastering major cities with this positive message, War Is Over (If You Want It). Let’s do it again.

As a simple set of words on a white background or in the moving song that still makes me cry, this message needs to be heard and believed.
